Takeda Global Research and Development Centre appoints new president
Takeda Global Research & Development Centre has announced that it has named Mehmood Khan as president of the company. Dr Khan will report to Dr Masaomi Miyamoto, the general manager of the pharmaceutical development business unit of Takeda Pharmaceutical.
Dr Khan, previously senior vice president of medical and scientific affairs at Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, replaces Dr John Yates in this role.
Takeda Global Research & Development Centre was established in January 2004 and integrated the research and development process of Takeda in Europe with the clinical development operations of Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America.
Dr Miyamoto said: “We are extremely pleased that Dr Mehmood Khan is joining Takeda Global Research & Development Centre as president. Dr Khan is a proven leader who brings a wealth of both academic and clinical experience to this role.”
He added that Dr Khan’s knowledge of the company’s global operations combined with his abilities with regards to patient care would benefit the company in its aim of developing new methods of meeting patient needs through developing pharmaceutical products.
Last month, Takeda Pharmaceutical announced the appointment of Mr Giacomo Di Nepi as the chief executive officer of Takeda European operations at Takeda Pharmaceuticals Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the firm.
