Takeda European subsidiaries contribute shares to TEH

31st January 2007

Takeda Pharmaceutical has announced that its European subsidiaries are to make an in-kind contribution of shares to its wholly-owned subsidiary Takeda Europe Holdings (TEH).

Marketing companies Takeda Pharma in Germany, Laboratoires Takeda in France and Takeda UK have transferred their shares to TEH, as have Italian manufacturing and marketing firm Takeda Italia Farmaceutici.

Additionally, UK-based development company Takeda Global Research & Development Centre (Europe) and sales and marketing firm Takeda Pharmaceuticals Europe have also contributed their shares to the holding company.

“Takeda aims to become a world-class pharmaceutical company with Japanese origin as set forth in the 2006-10 Medium-Term Management Plan,” the company states.

“For that purpose, it is vital to enhance the business structure in Europe where the company’s presence is relatively low,” it added.

Takeda also confirmed that it would look to maintain its position as the market leader in Japan, while increasing its present position in the US, while noting that there is strong competition within the industry and continued constraints on spending on healthcare across the world.

Also this week, Takeda announced its intention to merge three of its wholly-owned real estate subsidiaries, Daiwa Estate, Shinwa Estate and Takeda Pharmaceutical Real Estate.
