Procter and Gamble wins alliance excellence award
Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, a business division of Procter & Gamble, has announced that it has been awarded the 2007 Alliance Programme Excellence Award from the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (Asap).
The awards, decided by a committee including academics, analysts and consultants with experience in this field, seek to recognise companies that have achieved success through their strategic alliances and related programmes.
P&G Pharmaceuticals sources the entirety of its new drug development initiatives from outside the company, with a focus on partnerships and acquisitions in preference to internal drug discovery programmes.
The company’s Connect and Develop model aims at the construction of an international innovation network bringing together the capabilities of a number of companies and institutes worldwide.
Tom Finn, vice-president of strategic planning and new business at the company, said: “We are honoured to be receiving this award from Asap in recognition of P&G Pharmaceuticals’ alliance capability and track record.”
He added that the company believed that robust training and a strong capability and mindset can play a key roll in enhancing the success of partnerships between firms.
P&G Pharmaceuticals has developed and commercialised a number of prescription medicines since the 1980s, including Actonbel, Ebavlex, Didronel, Entex and Ziac.
