Johnson and Johnson announces launch of Regatta
Cordis Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson company, has announced the launch of its Regatta Steerable Guidewear in the US.
The Regatta Guidewear products provide solutions for the placements of catheter bags and other interventional devices which are used in coronary arteries. The products aim to facilitate procedures where arteries are highly narrowed.
Cordis lauded the introduction as a step towards its goal of providing a comprehensive product range for healthcare professionals and patients.
Meanwhile, commenting on the use of the Regatta Guidewear, Emerson C Perin, director of new interventional cardiovascular technology at the Texas Heart Institute, said when he tested the products he was “pleased to see each of them perform well under challenging circumstances”.
David E Kandzari, chief medical officer at the Cordis Cardiology Division, said the Regatta Guidewear allows “physicians to address the specific needs of patients”.
Separately, Johnson & Johnson recently announced a partnership with The Task Force for Child Survival and Development to help reduce the problems associated with soil transmitted helminthiasis (STH) – an infection of intestinal worms in children.
The announcement was made in Cameroon, where Johnson & Johnson claims millions of children are infected with STH.
