Agfa HealthCare launches Impax clinical module

27th February 2007

Agfa HealthCare, part of the Agfa Gevaert group, has announced the launch of the Impax clinical module, a software component for its Impax radiology information system and picture archiving and communication system solution.

The module aims to bring a range of clinical data to a single desktop location, the Impax radiology desktop, with this information including laboratory results, pharmacy and pathology data.

Agfa states that giving physicians access to this data simply in real-time with a single log-on could result in a reduction in the amount of time used and potentially result in enhanced clinical decision making.

The company claims that the system will save radiologists five minutes for every study protocoled, while flagging up abnormal results transmitted by the modality.

Lenny J Reznik, director of enterprise imaging and information at Agfa HealthCare in the US, said: “This patient-centric information workflow is a new level of information integration for radiologists.”

He added that currently such data is available only in non-integrated legacy systems, while the Impax clinical module facilitates the integration of this system into the protocoling and interpretation daily workflow.

This week, Agfa HealthCare presented its vision of an electronic medical record enterprise IT platform for the US.
