Boston Scientific announces governance changes
Massachusetts-based medical device firm Boston Scientific has announced changes to its corporate governance which it hopes will enhance its organisation.
The group plans to implement a majority voting standard for its director elections, requiring any director nominee not elected by a majority of votes to resign.
Resignations will then be considered by Boston’s governance committee, which will make recommendations on its acceptance or rejection.
Other changes could include a shareholder vote for phasing in annual elections of directors, as recommended by the board.
“Boston Scientific is committed to constantly improving its corporate governance,” said chairman Pete Nicholas.
“As a company, we believe in strong corporate governance practices, which build trust and credibility with investors,” he added, noting that the group intends to implement continual reviews of corporate governance practices with a view to increasing the value of the firm.
Last week, Boston announced plans to attend the Cowen Health Care Conference, while it has also recently launched a public outreach programme to 50 million chronic pain sufferers.
Race Against Pain will be undertaken by Boston’s Neuromodulation Group.
