Pfizer is ‘a top corporation for women’s business enterprises’

Pfizer has announced that the company has been named as one of the top corporations for women’s business enterprises in the US by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

In the annual listing for supplier diversity, Pfizer was recognised as one of the top firms in the nation, being praised for being one of 16 companies that offer women equal contracting opportunities for business enterprises.

Pfizer is a corporate member of WBENC and has provided support for many of the council’s initiatives and participated in a number of its network events.

The Women’s Business Enterprise Award will be presented to the company and the other winners at a ceremony in Dallas, Texas on March 30th.

Linda Denny, interim president of the national council, said: “WBENC is proud to honour Pfizer and its supplier diversity programme for the third consecutive year.”

She added that the company was a leader in its support of novel and competitive business enterprises for women.

Last month, Pfizer announced that Constance J Horner had been elected to serve as lead director of the company, succeeding Dr Stanley O Ikenberry in the role as he approached the firm’s compulsory retirement age.

Ms Horner has been a member of the board of directors of the firm for 14 years.
