Eli Lilly has announced changes to the makeup of its senior leadership team, with the appointment of Alex M Azar as senior vice-president of corporate affairs and communications, together with the promotion of Anne Nobles to vice-president for compliance and enterprise risk management.
Mr Azar, who will report directly to the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, has also been appointed to the policy and strategy and corporate operations committee of Lilly, in addition to its senior management council.
Also reporting to the chief executive, Ms Nobles joins Mr Azar on the senior management council and corporate operations committee. Ms Nobles has been at Lilly for over 16 years, holding a number of positions at the firm.
Sidney Taurel, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: “We are very pleased to have someone of Alex’s calibre join the leadership team here at Lilly.
“He brings a combination of distinguished government service and private practice and has a track record of strong leadership.”
Mr Taurel added that the appointment of an employee as qualified as Ms Noble to the position of chief compliance officer highlighted the dedication of the firm to act properly in this area.
Last week, Lilly announced that it is to publish online the details of its financial contributions to academic centres, patient groups and other similar US-based organisations.
