Thermo Fisher Scientific launches water preservation cell

Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched a new water preservation cell aimed at ensuring sample incubation and cell culture are safe from contamination.

Called AquaTec, the preservation cell is to be used in preventing waterborne contamination in carbon dioxide incubators and water baths. It also allows for six months of protection from more than 600 types of bacteria, moulds, viruses and fungi.

Manufacturers states that the cell can be used across a variety of research environments and is suitable for use in equipment from any manufacturer.

The AquaTec device additionally provides both cost and time savings since it is self-regulatory – disposing of the requirement to constantly monitor microbial concentration and for testing equipment.

It also dispenses with the need for mixing or measuring materials that are potentially hazardous.

Thermo Fisher Scientific recently released a new SILAC Protein Quantitation Kit for identifying, characterising and quantitising proteins.

It is hoped the kits will be used as "all-in-one solutions" for researchers in pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries.
