Invitrogen settles patent litigation case

Invitrogen has settled a patent litigation it was embroiled in with fellow manufacturer Clontech.

The genetic research and drug manufacturer settled the patent litigation after a jury decision in the federal district court in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Clontech has now agreed that Invitrogen’s patents on RNase H minus reverse transcriptase are valid and enforceable.

It has also now discontinued sales of RNase H minus RT products, which include PowerScript products, for the life of patients.

Further details of the agreement are yet to be disclosed by other of the companies, Invitrogen said in a statement.

Invitrogen specialises in products and services for institutions and pharmaceutical companies specialising in life research.

The company was founded in 1987, has headquarters in Carlsbad, California and has business in more than 70 countries globally.

In related news, Invitrogen recently participated in a Global Volunteer Day, which saw its employees pledge more than 7,500 hours of voluntary time.
