PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences on board with Honda
PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences (LAS) has announced that it has teamed up with the Honda Formula One team to meet new regulations.
The UK-based division of the Formula One team is now required to measure the performance and potential degradation of engines, gearboxes and lubricant contamination, according to PerkinElmmer, something the LAS firm can assist with.
"The measurements can determine when parts or oils need to be replaced while longer term the information can help guide the redesign of racecar components for maximum performance," said Gavin Aston, molecular spectroscopy European territory product line leader, PerkinElmer LAS.
PerkinElmer’s new agreement with the Honda team expands on a relationship that goes back a number of years, with the team’s operations director, Gary Savage, saying that Honda has used PerkinElmer technology to "great effect" for a number of years.
Infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis instrumentation is that which is already used by the motorsport team. PerkinElmer Optima 5300 ICP and a PerkinElmer Spectrum OilExpress FT-IR System will also now be used.
The firm’s LAS division will be featuring in trade shows in the United States, China and Japan before the end of the month.
