Philips announces optional iSite Pacs enhancements

At the conference of the Society for Imaging and Informatics (SIIM) in Providence, Philips Medical Systems has announced the release of optional improvements to its iSite picture archiving and communications system (Pacs).

The iSite system is a medical image and information management system that aims to provide diagnostic-quality images to physicians over already-existing hospital networks while offering advanced radiology reading stations and an always-online long-term storage solution.

Tools from Primordial that have been custom-developed for the iSite system, including RadConnect, RadReview and RadMetrix, were displayed by Philips at booth 331 at the SIIM conference.

RadConnect is an integrated email and instant messaging programme, while RadReview aims to reduce the implementation time of the peer review process of the American College of Radiology.

Also integrated into the iSite Pacs, RadMetrix offers a real-time overview of the throughput, turnaround times and trending of a radiology department.

Matt Long, general manager of healthcare informatics at Philips Medical Systems, said: “The Primordial tools simplify access to data that radiologists need to provide confident diagnoses and streamline collaboration among caregivers to enhance their levels of patient care.”

In November 2006, Philips announced that it had acquired Intermagnetics, a parts and accessories manufacturer for medical resonance imaging scanners, for the sum of $1.3 billion (703 million pounds).
