Sanyo purifiers in Haneda airport

Sanyo E&E has installed air purifiers throughout Japan’s Haneda airport, the company states.

The Loughborough-based biomedical firm has supplied six systems with the Virus Washer function to All Nippon Airways’ (ANA) signet lounges.

In this way, the airline hopes to provide cleaner air to the large numbers of passengers who frequently pass through the lounges, Sanyo E&E claims.

The company explains: "Under highly competitive conditions, each airliner is trying various strategies to differentiate its services."

"To provide clean air in the signet lounge, which is an upgraded lounge for special customers, is one such strategy by ANA."

Sanyo E&E adds that it is hoping to take advantage of ANA’s efforts in order to raise the profile of products which utilise the Virus Washer technology.

The system uses electrolysed water to denature the proteins on the surface of a virus cell so it is unable to attach to its intended target.
