Oxford Instruments celebrates centennial detector

Oxford Instruments this week revealed it has shipped its 100th INCAx-act analytical drift detector.

The firm announced that the triple-figure landmark sale was made on May 11th, prompting a spokesperson to call the product "the detector of choice".

Meanwhile, the company recognised the importance of experience added to the creation of the device through a partnership with German sensor manufacturer Ketek.

Simon Burgess, marketing manager for nano-analysis at Oxford Instruments, said: "Customers expect systems from Oxford Instruments to provide the highest quality and reliability of results."

"They are naturally sceptical of new technology, but their tests have shown they can get the same quality of answers they have come to expect from our silicon-lithium detectors," he continued.

Oxford Instruments states that the INCAx-act uses a silicon drift technology which performs "significantly better" at low energies than typical sensors.

The company adds that the fast x-ray mapping allows for artefact-free images to be obtained "in seconds".
