Genzyme president honoured

Henri Termeer, chair and president of Genzyme, has been presented with a special award, it has been revealed.

As part of professional services provider Ernst & Young’s annual awards, the business leader was given the periodical Master Entrepreneur title.

The firm explained that the accolade represents Mr Termeer’s commitment to industry and support of individual development.

Bryan Pearce, director of Ernst & Young’s entrepreneur of the year awards programme, said: "This year’s award recipients are truly an inspiration to all.

"We salute them for their drive, determination and hard work – and congratulate them on their success."

Mr Termeer was identified as having fostered an entrepreneurial spirit throughout the biotech industry by encouraging others to start their own businesses.

He has served as company president for Genzyme since 1983, two years after the founding of the firm, with subsequent appointments as chief executive in 1985 and chair in 1988.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18182669-ADNFCR
