Cook Medical signs distribution agreement with Gynecor
Private medical device firm Cook Medical has announced the signing of a strategic distribution partnership agreement with a global anatomic pathology laboratory specialising in gynaecology, Gynecor.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Tao Brush designed and produced by Cook Medical will be exclusively distributed by Gynecor to physicians in the UK and US.
The Tao Brush uses soft bristles as a means of obtaining a sufficient and representative sample of endometrium from a patient to enable the early detection of abnormal cells that may be early signs of cancer.
Gynecor includes the Tao Brush as part of its TruTest endometrial biopsy kit as part of a system that seeks to reduce patient discomfort and the risk of damage to the uterus while acquiring a broader sample of cells from the endometrial lining.
Alison Lippincott, director of marketing for Gynecor, commented that women should not have to endure a painful procedure with long delays for results that may result in an ambiguous diagnosis.
“Our goal is to address these issues by offering a comprehensive picture of the patients’ uterine health with less discomfort and a more definitive result in the shortest amount of time possible,” she said.
Gynecor is a sponsor of the non-profit Cancer Schmancer group launched by actress Fran Drescher who survived uterine cancer.
