UCB appoints new chief financial officer

17th July 2007

UCB has announced that Detlef Thielgen is to become chief financial officer of the company from the start of September 2007.

He will replace Luc Missorten in the role, who will continue in the position until the end of August in order to guarantee an organised transition of responsibilities to Mr Thielgsen before he leaves the company to pursue other opportunities outside the firm.

Mr Thielgen was appointed as chief financial officer of Schwarz Pharma in 2002 and was promoted to the position of chief executive officer at the company in January this year, when he was also appointed to the executive committee of UCB.

He had earlier joined Schwarz Pharma in 1989 and was appointed as head of group controlling five years later, before subsequent promotions to chief financial officer of Schwarz Pharma USA, and general manager of the company’s global manufacturing and supply chain.

Roch Doliveux, chief executive officer of UCB, stated that he is “delighted” with the appointment of Mr Thielgen to the position of chief financial officer of the company.

“His in-depth knowledge of Schwarz Pharma and extensive experience in the pharma industry will make a major contribution as we build UCB into the next generation biopharma leader,” he said.

Last week, UCB announced the registration of a domination and profit transfer agreement between its UCB SP subsidiary and Schwarz Pharma on the commercial register in Germany in order to ensure the integration of that company into the group.
