Oxford Intruments to acquire WAS

31st July 2007

Oxford Instruments has revealed it intends to acquire German-based Worldwide Analytical Systems (WAS).

The firm states that it has received irrevocable acceptances and the support of management for the acquisition to go ahead.

And the company adds that the transaction represents the latest stage in a five-year plan to double the size of its operations.

Bradley Boyer, president of Oxford Intruments Industrial Analysis, says: "This acquisition is part of our ongoing strategy to deliver added value to our customers and to grow our share of the optical emission spectrometry market.

"We are delighted that WAS will be joining us and look forward to working with them to deliver an enhanced service to our customers."

The technology obtained as part of the transaction is suited for detecting carbon, sulphur, phosphorous and nitrogen contaminants in metals, according to Oxford Instruments.

It was previously claimed by the firm that its x-ray fluorescence detector could identify taints in metal panels without marking the surface.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18228990-ADNFCR
