Randox Laboratories provides cytokine quality controls

Randox Laboratories has made available tri-level cytokine quality controls for cytokine assays, it has been announced.

According to the company, the controls – for both regular and high-sensitivity assays – are designed for use with a wide range of methods and instruments and are lyophilised for a two-year shelf life with no preservatives.

Many cytokine assays suffer from fluctuations in accuracy and lack precision – and kit controls can actually conceal problems with reagents or calibrators, according to the company.

Randox states that its controls are independent and as such reduce inter-laboratory variation.

Cytokines are signalling proteins predominantly released by immune cells that are concerned with a range of diseases. Randox states that quality control is important in multiple assays due to the demands of performing several analyses in a single procedure.

Last month, Randox announced the launch of an educational CD on the diagnosis and risk factors of cardiovascular disease.
