Stiefel appoints head of global corporate development

17th September 2007

Stiefel Laboratories has announced the appointment of Jim Loerop to the position of senior vice-president of global corporate development at the firm.

In this position, Mr Loerop will oversee the corporate development operations of the business, heading up the identification, negotiation and implementation of acquisitions, divestitures and other new business opportunities, including those leading to the development of novel products and services and strategic partnerships.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Loerop has been employed in the role of vice-president of corporate development in North America at the firm since May 2006.

Bill Humphries, chief commercial officer at the firm, said: “Since joining Stiefel Laboratories, Jim has played an important role in our company’s overall corporate development strategy.

“He has consistently demonstrated a high level of commitment to the company’s growth, including his integral role in the recent acquisition and integration of Connetics Corporation.”

He added that Stiefel is confident that Mr Loerop will proceed with his successful guidance of the firm’s plans for global expansion.

Earlier this month, Stiefel appointed Gavin Corcoran to the role of senior vice-president of global research and development with responsibility for overseeing five global facilities belonging to the firm.
