Bayer presents blood glucose monitors at EASD conference
Bayer HealthCare is presenting its blood glucose meters at the annual conference of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) held this week in Amsterdam.
During the conference, the company will exhibit its full range of blood glucose meters for diabetes patients, which includes its Contour Pro, Contour Link, Contour TS, Contour and Breeze monitors.
The newly-launched systems will be launched in a number of European countries over the coming months, the company reports, while noting the hi-tech wireless connectivity of the Contour Pro and the integration of the Contour Link with the Guardian real-time and MiniMed Paradigm insulin pump systems.
All of the products in the range feature improved sensor technology, while a common source of errors is eliminated as none requires coding.
Dr Roberto Parotelli, head of the European diabetes care division of Bayer HealthCare, said: “The addition of these two wireless meters – Contour Pro and Contour Link – to our business has given us a new strategic focus.”
He added that the complimentary features of these solutions will result in measurable enhancements to the safety of patients with diabetes.
In July 2006, Bayer purchased Metrika, a diabetes care company that produces the A1CNow + device designed to test HbA1c blood glucose levels to a high level of accuracy.
