Thermo Fisher Scientific incorporates data management functionality into Nautilus Lims

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the integration of data management functionality into its Nautilus laboratory information management system (Lims) version 8.0.

Permitting instant access to – and manipulation of – raw instrument and derived data without the need for the original software, the new Data Manager software can capture, archive and store such information, reports the company.

Vice-president and general manager for informatics at Thermo Fisher Scientific Dave Champagne states that Data Manager epitomises a "leap forward" in value-added Lims.

"With the Data Manager technology incorporated in the core product, Nautilus Lims 8.0 represents the company’s most significant development investment since the solution was first commercialised in 1998," he adds.

Instrument data can be converted into a platform-neutral extensible mark-up language that can be retrieved and visualised on virtually any platform by the new system, Thermo Fisher Scientific states.

Earlier this month, the firm reported an agreement with Edax to distribute Electron Backscatter Diffraction Systems.
