Johnson and Johnson receives HBA award

Johnson and Johnson (J&J) has announced that its Women’s Leadership Initiative has been named as the first winner of the Healthcare Businesswomen Association (HBA) ACE award.

J&J was recognised for the depth and global reach of its Women’s Leadership Initiative – a grassroots employee organisation which spans all sectors of the company.

Christine Poon, vice-chairman of the board of directors at J&J, expressed the company’s honour at being acknowledged for its commitment to the advancement of women at all levels of the company.

“The development of global leaders is key to the future of our business and the Women’s Leadership Initiative has played an important role.”

HBA, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, created the award to recognise the ‘advancement, commitment and engagement’ of women’s careers in the healthcare industry.

Since the launch of the Women’s Leadership Initiative in 1995, J&J has tracked significant increases in the numbers and percentages of women on its executive committee as well as among company presidents and managing directors.

Earlier this month, J&J announced the creation of three new units with the goal of accelerating growth and focusing on opportunities outside its traditional areas.
