Wyeth recognised at 2007 Scrip Awards

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth, has announced that it has been recognised for its pharmaceutical and scientific achievements at the third annual Scrip Awards ceremony held this week.

The pharmaceutical company received honours for Best Overall Pipeline and Best New Drug.

Robert R Ruffalo, senior vice-president, confirmed the importance of the accolades.

“These awards reflect our efforts to build a world-class research and development organisation focused on bringing innovative and much-needed new medicines to patients around the world,” he said.

The Best Overall Pipeline award recognised Wyeth’s research and development contributions to the pharmaceutical industry with the company developing more than 75 new therapies.

Wyeth’s drug Torisel was the recipient of the Best New Drug award, which received approval by the US Food and Drug Administration this year for use in patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer.

Scrip World Pharmaceutical News, a news provider for the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, hosted the ceremony which recognises companies and products that contribute to science and human health.

This week also saw Wyeth announce a number of promotions for its staff who have been key players in the company’s success in recent years.
