QIAGEN settles patent dispute

QIAGEN has announced that it has settled a patent dispute with Ventana Medical Systems on mutually agreeable terms.

The group’s Gaithersburg subsidiary, which was formerly Digene Corporation, made the agreement over two expired patents both concerning nucleic acid hydrization probes.

In addition, the two group’s agreement included the payment of an undisclosed sum by QIAGEN to the medical company, while the former also acknowledged Ventana’s lawful succession to the rights of Beckman Coulter under an agreement originally confirmed between Institut Pasteur and Life Technologies.

QIAGEN’s announcement on the settlement has come after the group revealed that it’s chief executive it is to present a presentation at the JPMorgan Annual Healthcare conference in San Francisco next year.
