Bausch and Lomb appoint new directors

11th February 2008

Bausch & Lomb have announced that J Raymond Elliot and Richard F Wallman have joined the company’s board of directors.

They join existing board members Joseph P Landy, Elizabeth H Weatherman, Sean D Carney and D Scott Mackesy.

Mr Elliot has previously worked at Zimmer Holdings, serving the company as chairman, president and chief executive officer from 2001 until last year, when he retired.

He has held general management roles for nearly 30 years in the healthcare, media and consumer products industries.

Mr Wallman was senior vice-president and chief financial officer of Honeywell International from 1995 until he retired in 2003.

Before this appointment, he worked as vice-president and controller at IBM and held various positions at Chrysler.

Gerald M Ostrov, board chairman and chief executive officer of Bausch & Lomb, said: “Ray and Richard further enhance the board’s expertise in global business expansion and healthcare markets. We look forward to benefiting from their insight and knowledge.”

He added that the company’s board of directors is helping to guide the firm into an extended growth period.

Last month, Bausch & Lomb announced that it had signed a definitive agreement for the privately-owned opthalmic medical device firm eyeonics.
