Novartis firm streamlines factory
Animal medicine manufacturer Vericore, a firm which belongs to the Novartis UK group, has announced it is to restructure its animal health products facility in Dundee.
The company told the Evening Telegraph & Post that in order to remain competitive, it will be streamlining its portfolio and reducing its workforce by around a third over the next two years.
Such a move would mean around 30 roles would no longer be necessary.
A spokesman for the firm told the newspaper that Vericore will continue to meet or exceed their customers’ expectations but that efficiency is vital to operate within such a competitive sector.
“The dynamics of the healthcare industry have dramatically shifted and today the pharmaceutical market faces new challenges – risk-averse regulators, increased generics competition and increasing pressures for cost containment,” he said.
Novartis is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world and employs more than 3,500 people in Britain alone.
