Goldshield reaches settlement with Scottish health boards

Goldshield Group, Goldshield Pharmaceuticals and Forley Genetics have agreed to pay compensation as part of a settlement involving civil claims for drug supply.

The companies will pay £750,000 and cooperate against various others in the matter of alleged price fixing for Warfarin, Ranitidine and Penicillin-based drugs.

The claims relate to a suggested anti-competitive cartel supplying drugs to the NHS.

Although Goldshield and Forley agreed to pay the compensation, the final basis is without admission of liability and is “a satisfactory conclusion”, according to cabinet secretary for health and wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon.

In addition, Goldshield Group chairman Keith Hellawell said: “We recognise the importance of building strong working relationships with our customers.

“We view the NHS as a valued customer and are therefore very pleased with today’s settlement.”

As part of the group, Goldshield Pharmaceuticals specialises in a range of therapeutic products such as Fersaday Tabs (ferrous fumarate) and Lipobind.
