Communication boost for GPs and pharmacists

A new publication has been launched with the aim of boosting lines of communication between general practitioners (GPs) and pharmacists in England.

The workbook aims to illuminate the common ground between the two groups of healthcare professionals and to bring them together to find solutions to mutual concerns.

Both the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) and the GPs committee of the British Medical Association (BMA) have played a role in drawing up the publication and both are keen to see relationships improve between their respective members.

Explaining some of the reasons behind the introduction of the new workbook, the NPA has suggested that constructive collaboration between local pharmacies and GPs have never been more important.

“Through mutual understanding and shared learning we will find that we can make our jobs easier,” said Dr Laurence Buckman of the BMA.

Last month, the NPA announced plans to make email bulletins on relevant subjects available to its members working around the UK.
