Sartorius Stedim Biotech announces second deal with ProMetric

1st April 2008

Sartorius Stedim Biotech and ProMetric Life Sciences have announced the second successful technology transfer deal resulting from their collaboration.

The partnership, which began in 2006, positions Sartorius as the preferred supplier and technology provider of filtration equipment and consumables to plasma fractionators that have in-licensed ProMetic’s proprietary manufacturing process.

As filtration and fluid management technologies are imperative to the purification of biological products, Sartorius predicts significant sales from this collaboration, reports Pharmaceuticalonline.com.

Meanwhile, Sartorius recently revealed strong sales figures and revenues for 2007.

EBITA rose to 49.7 million euros from 46.1 million euros a year earlier, reports Foxbusiness.com, while the company’s equity ratio is 56.6 percent and the ratio of net debt to pro forma underlying EBITDA is at 2.3.

Speaking to the news provider, Joachim Kreuzburg, head of the corporation, attributed the company’s financial success to the merging of the Biotechnology Division of the Sartorius Group and Stedim into the Sartorius Stedim Biotech Group, which was better equipped to cope with what he refers to as a "challenging" market.
