BOC Gases purchases packed chlorine business

BOC Gases has announced that it is to purchase INEOS ChloVinyls’ packed chlorine business.

The sale will be completed once necessary approvals from the Office of Fair Trading have been obtained, reports Azom.com.

The value of the sale has not been disclosed.

INEOS ChlorVinyl is a Runcorn-based company which specialises in the packaging and delivery of chlorine liquefied gas in drums and cylinders to be used in water disinfection and chemical intermediate treatments.

Speaking bout the acquisition, Mike Huggon, head of BOC’s Regional Business Unit in the UK and Ireland, told the website: "This is an excellent opportunity for BOC. The acquisition allows us to extend our service offer to the important water treatment sector. BOC already has existing relationships with many of these customers and we look forward to working more closely with them."

BOC Gases combined with Linde in 2006 to become the Linde Group, the company operates in some 70 countries employing 53,000 people.
