MDS launches new laser system

24th April 2008

MDS Analytical Technologies has launched a laser capture microdissection system.

The company claims its next-generation Arcturus XT system uses the latest advances in microscope technology by using Nikon’s latest Eclipse Ti-E inverted research microscope as its base.

Andy Boorn, president of MDS, said: "The next-generation ArcturusXT system pushes the limits of laser capture microdissection to add more capability for researchers in a number of fields, including stem cell research, cancer research, forensics, and many others.

"This new system demonstrates MDS Analytical Technologies’ commitment to advancing the important work being performed within the LCM community."

He claims the system is the only fully open and modular one combining infrared laser-enabled technology and ultraviolet laser cutting in a single system enabling researchers to improve precision, speed and flexibility during experiments.

The firm claims to be a leading global supplier of life sciences tools.

It is comprised of two main brands, Sciex for mass spectrometry and Molecular Devices for bioanalytical measurement systems.
