Hitatchi Scientific Instruments’ HE9100 encoder has been awarded at a national broadcasters association.
The encoder/decoder was selected by Broadcast Engineering as "pick hit" at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).
It was selected ahead of thousands of other products at the event in contention for the award.
The Broadcast Engineering magazine said: "At the 2008 NAB Show, a panel of independent judges toured the exhibition floor for three days, looking for innovative technology."
It added: "They then met to make their selections based on multiple criteria, including the technical and financial improvements the products can bring to a facilitys operation."
According to the publication the "pick hits" are the most prestigious technical awards given at NAB, which in its 24th year is the industry’s longest-running product technology awards for broadcast and production.
The event was held in the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Nevada.
