Caliper Life Sciences announces cell-based profiling collaboration

Caliper Life Sciences has announced a collaboration deal with DiscoverRx Corporation to offer solutions for cell-based profiling.

The partnership will enable DiscoveRx’s functional cell-based GPCR assays to be performed on Caliper’s LabChip platforms.

It claims the move will assist pharmaceutical and biotechnology researchers to efficiently discover GPCR drugs.

Kevin Hrusovsky, the organisation’s chief executive, said: "This collaboration will expand the capability of Caliper’s LabChip technology into the dynamic GPCR drug discovery market, an opportunity with substantial potential due to the importance of GPCR drugs and the number of active R&D programmes in neuroscience, cardiovascular, inflammation and other disease areas."

He added that the firm had expanded its offerings to provide researchers the ability to prosecute GPCR targets in a functional cellular assay for "lead optimisation and
profiling".

The organisation claims to be a leading provider of cutting-edge technologies that enable life sciences researchers to create medicines and diagnostic tests quicker.
