Takeda to donate to earthquake relief
Takeda Pharmaceutical Company has announced it is to donate towards the disaster relief efforts in Sichuan, China.
The group said it would contribute via the Red Cross and other organisations, with employees also encouraged to show their support.
At Takeda’s headquarters in Japan the decision was made to give 50 million yen (about £240,000) to the earthquake relief fund. Added to other donations from the company this takes its total contribution to 60 million yen.
“We are praying for revival of this earthquake area as soon as possible,” Takeda said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the company announced earlier this month it had completed its acquisition of Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
The latter is now a fully-owned subsidiary of Takeda and said it will continue its efforts to develop “breakthrough” medicines to benefit those in need across the globe.
