Applied Biosystems improves software
Applied Biosystems has improved the capabilities in one of its software programmes to improve the identification of contaminants in food and water.
The company revealed it had expanded the abilities of its Analyst Software due to public concern after reports of contaminations in food.
Among the labs using the expanded contamination testing application is Eurofins, which provides testing for the food, environmental, pharmaceutical and consumer products industries.
Thomas Anspach, a scientist at the firm, said: "Applied Biosystems/MDS Analytical Technologies’ contaminant-testing application is not just about a larger number of chemicals detected. It is also about greater intelligence for more comprehensive screening to help ensure food and water safety."
He added that food and water safety is a priority for health officials as well as consumers themselves.
Applied Biosystems claims to be a leader in the life science marketplace focused on research and testing, and last month announced it was supplying analytical equipment to scientists at the Spanish Council for Scientific Research to develop a new method for the monitoring of drug abuse.
