Dental faculties to offer e-learning

The dental faculties from the Royal Colleges in England, Glasgow and Edinburgh are to provide an e-learning service for dentists in training, it has been reported.

Online news resource Dentistry.co.uk explains that the project is funded by the Department of Health and will encompass dentistry’s general professional training (GPT) foundation curriculum.

The scheme is available free of charge to any individual in the UK with an NHS contract and all NHS trainees.

Content on the course will also be appropriate for revalidation and continuing professional development for both dentists and dental care professionals.

Paul Brunton, a professor of restorative dentistry at Leeds, board member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and Edinburgh fellow, has been appointed as the clinical lead for the project.

In other dentistry news, a study by Oral-B and the British Dental Health Foundation recently suggested that some parents are letting their children down by not supervising them as they brush their teeth.
