BMS contracts IBM for HR services

6th June 2008

IBM has won a new ten-year contract with Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) to supply the company with human resources services.

Under the terms of the $324 million (165.7 million pounds) business transformational outsourcing (BTO) agreement, IBM will supply BMS with compensation, benefits, recruiting, learning, payroll administration, call centre support and related IT systems services.

The IBM services will provide BMS with flexible and available HR services that will provide its employees with access to information and services anywhere in the world via a single SAP portal.

“Dynamic change in the pharmaceutical industry is forcing companies to become more streamlined in their operations,” IBM outsourcing expert Philip Guido explained. “In order to manage talent within an organisation, a company must have an integrated view into its employee population and workforce data.”

BMS aims to become a world leader in the biopharma sector and is attempting to create a “more integrated and improved employee experience” through the new agreement, in addition to reducing costs and boosting operation efficiency.

With global sales of around $19.3 billion a year, BMS is a global biopharmaceutical company which states that its mission is “to extend and enhance human life”.
