Applied Biosystems launches new gene expression tool

Applied Biosystems claims its new gene expression analysis tool will give life science researchers more flexibility and greater efficiency.

The firm’s TaqMan Express Plates contain dried-down assays selected from more than 50,000 of the company’s gene expression assays customised sets.

It claims the product was designed to make the application of real-time PCR TaqMan assays more accessible to a larger number of researchers.

Dr Jack Lipton, professor of psychiatry and director at the University of Cincinnati’s Division of Neuropharmacology, said: "The TaqMan express plates demonstrate excellent reproducibility, are easy to use, and provide us with the ability to run sets of TaqMan gene expression assays with a minimal amount of time needed to set up our experiments."

The firm announced earlier in the month it has joined the 1,000 Genomes Project, which is attempting to build the most detailed ever map of genetic variation as a tool for medical research.

Applied Biosystems claims to be a leader in the life science marketplace focused on research and testing, and last month it launched a range of new microRNA analysis tools.
