Eli Lilly announces chronic disease partnership

14th July 2008

Eli Lilly has established a new partnership as part of its fight against chronic disease.

The company is to collaborate with the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and will unveil a 148-page pocked sized book dedicated to health.

Eli Lilly said the partnership between itself and the council is an obvious one, given its commitment to helping people.

The company is rolling out the book with NCLR support during the council’s annual conference this week taking place at the San Diego Convention Centre.

Included in the book are tips and resources to help Hispanic Americans lead a healthy life and prevent heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other chronic conditions.

The firm notes that while chronic diseases affect all people, Hispanic people are more likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease and diabetes and less likely to receive regular and continuous care to tackle these conditions.

Jack Bailey, a vice president at Eli Lilly, said: “For the past 130 years, it has been Lilly’s mission to provide Answers that Matter.”

He added that – be it in the form of lifesaving medication, disease management programmes or the availability of general healthcare information – the goal of the company is to help improve quality of life.

Last week, Eli Lilly announced its support for the updated code from Pharmaceuticals Research and Manufacturers of America.
