Merck announces new board member

Merck has announced a new member has been elected to the company’s board of directors.

Leslie A Brun is the chairman and chief executive officer of diversified investment holding company Sarr Group. He appointment will become effective from the 22nd July.

Mr Brun is now the 14th independent director on the board and will face an election for the shareholders next year.

Richard T Clark, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Merck, said: “Les brings a broad range of business and financial experience and we look forward to working with him on the board.”

Since 2007, Mr Brun has been the non-executive chairmen of the board of directors for Automatic Data Processing and has been member of this board since 2003.

He is also a trustee of the University at Buffalo Foundation, the Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Last month Merck announced it was withdrawing a new drug application for the loratadine/montelukast combination tablet.
