GE Healthcare CEO ‘will help business to grow’

General Electric (GE) has announced the appointment of John Dineen as president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare and said his appointment will aid continued business growth worldwide.

Before being appointed to the head of the $17 billion (8.5 billion pounds) company, Mr Dineen was president and chief executive officer of GE Transportation, a business now headed up by Lorenzo Simonelli.

Mr Dineen has been at GE for 22 years and was appointed as president and chief executive officer of GE Transportation in 2005. He will now be located in GE Healthcare headquarters in London.

Jeff Immelt, chairman and chief executive officer of GE, said: “John has developed broad operations expertise across a range of industries for two decades.

“His sharp customer focus combined with the talented team at healthcare will help the business continue to grow around the world.”

He described Mr Dineen as a talented global leader whose efforts to globalise and diversify the high-tech portfolio of the transportation business consistently delivered double-digit growth to the unit.

Last month at the annual meeting of the American Society of Echocardiography in Toronto, GE Healthcare marked a decade since the acquisition of Vingmed.
