Bausch and Lomb to participate in blindness meeting

Bausch & Lomb has announced plans to participate in the annual general assembly of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) being held in Buenos Aires later this month.

The IAPB was established in 1975 to coordinate international work to prevent blindness.

The company is one of six corporate and foundation members of the agency and the Vision2020: The Right To Sight initiative.

Vision2020 is a global enterprise coordinated by the IAPB and the World Health Organisation with the goal of eliminating global blindness.

The company will present at the assembly from August 25th to 28th at the Hotel Panamericano.

Alan Farnsworth, corporate vice-president of Bausch & Lomb, said: “The assembly’s theme – Excellence and Equity in Eyecare – mirrors our own commitment to preserving, treating and enhancing the eyesight of people worldwide.”

He added the company is looking forward to working with scientists, corporate partners and non-governmental organisations at the conference to help discover new methods of bringing eye care to those most in need of it worldwide.

Earlier this week, Bausch & Lomb announced Mr Farnsworth would become chief information officer at the firm with responsibility for customer service processes and IT technology.
