Meda acquires pharmaceutical products from Roche
Meda has announced the acquisition to the world-wide rights to four pharmaceutical products from Roche.
The company said the purchase of these well-established products has strengthened its position in the key therapy areas of cardiology, central nervous system and pain and inflammation.
It has acquired the products for a total sum of 120 million euros (95 million pounds), around double the sales levels of the drugs, which is approximately 500 million Swedish kronor (42.5 million pounds).
The agreement covers the global rights to the products, while Meda identified the key markets for these compounds of Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the US.
Meda confirmed no employees will move between the companies as a result of this transaction.
Anders Lonner, chief executive officer of Meda, said: “I’m glad that we could reach this deal with Roche. The products strengthen our marketing affiliates’ position in key therapy areas.”
He added good market synergies are expected from the deal.
The drugs included in the deal are anticoagulant Marcoumar (phenprocoumon), Torem, a loop diuretic, Tilcotil (tenoxicam), a treatment for painful muscoloskeletal disorders and depression drug Aurorix (moclobemide).
Earlier this month, Meda purchased the European pharmaceutical business from Valeant.
