Shire announces elections for interim dividend
Global speciality biopharmaceutical firm Shire has announced the elections for its interim dividend in respect of the half-year period ended June 2008.
In July 2008, the company announced an interim dividend of 2.147 cents (0.012p) per ordinary share which will be payable on October 9th to shareholders listed on the register when business closes on September 12th 2008.
The firm reminded shareholders the last date for submission of elections to receive dividends sourced in the UK via the income access share arrangements is September 12th 2008.
“In the absence of any such elections, previous elections or deemed elections will remain in force,” the company said.
It added that shareholders who do not elect or have not been deemed to elect to receive UK sourced dividends will have their dividends Irish sourced and subject to Irish dividend witholding tax.
This is unless company registrars are in possession of a valid exemption form.
Earlier this week, Shire announced the total voting rights for the company.
It reported that at the close of business on August 29th 2008, its issued voting share capital consisted of 559,980,974 ordinary shares with a nominal value of 5p, with each share carrying one voting right.
