AMS secures new site in north-west England
Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) has secured a site for a major new facility in north-west England, it has emerged.
The North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has announced a grant of 275,000 pounds to the company to enable the firm to stay in the region.
With the Selective Finance for Investment grant, AMS will merge its two existing facilities into one, doubling the area of the site to 15,000 square metres.
The NWDA said 99 positions would be safeguarded with a further 41 new jobs created as a result of the capital investment grant.
Dr Don Evans, chief executive officer of AMS, said: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure a prime site for this new facility in the local area thus retaining key staff and skills and mitigating the disruption risks associated with a major project of this kind.”
He added that the site is a vital investment for the company which will allow it to consolidate its existing operations while supporting future plans for growth and strengthening its position as a leading medical device company.
In July 2008, AMS said its existing two operations on the Winsford Industrial Estate employ 150 people who will transfer to the new site during 2009 and 2010.
