Pall posts 11.9% rise in quarterly sales
Pall has reported fourth quarter sales of $732.2 million (£410.3 million) for the year ending July 31st 2008 – an 11.9 per cent rise on the figures for the previous fiscal year.
The company, which specialises in fluid filtration, separation and purification services for sectors including biotechnology, pharmaceutical and aerospace, also saw its net earnings rise year-on-year from $16.8 million in 2007 to $69.9 million.
For the full fiscal year 2008, sales stood at $2.6 billion, while net earnings topped $217.3 million.
The company’s Energy, Water & Process Technologies arm, previously General Industry, grew four per cent overall, while system sales increased by 16.4 per cent over the year.
Meanwhile, the firm’s Life Sciences business saw its sales increase by 4.6 per cent over the quarter and 10.8 per cent for the year. New business sales resulted in a 41.1 per cent rise in the division’s system sales.
Commenting on the results, company chairman and chief executive officer Eric Krasnoff said: "Strong sales throughout the year combined with cost reduction and process improvement initiatives resulted in an operating margin of 15.2%, an 80 basis point improvement."
