Siemens Healthcare introduces workflow tools for imaging system

Siemens Healthcare has announced the introduction of enhanced workflow tools for its Inveon preclincial imaging system.

The firm said these enhanced capabilities could shorten the path to clinical reality in drug discovery by providing consumers with enhanced speed, quality and performance.

Siemens presented the new tools at the congress of World Molecular Imaging held in Nice, France last week.

The new Inveon-Workplace solution is a combination of the Inveon Acquisition and Inveon Resrearch solutions and offers new methods to boost overall workflow.

According to Siemens, the combined solution offers faster PET and CT image acquisition, higher performance in image virtusalisation and analyses and enriched reconstruction quality.

Michael Reitermann, chief executive officer of molecular imaging at Siemens Healthcare, said: “These new tools can help speed the drug development process as they more quickly enable researchers to monitor the efficacy of compounds and measure the effects of disease progression over time.”

He added that translational research with modern equipment is vital to successful outcomes as imaging technology and this type of research are evolving rapidly.

In May 2008, Siemens Healthcare announced the development of ten dual-energy applications for general imaging use at the annual international symposium on Multidetector-Row CT in Las Vegas.
