Takeda establishes new clinical development company

25th September 2008

Takeda has announced the establishment of a new company for clinical development.

Formed as Takeda Clinical Research Singapore (TCRS), the wholly-owned subsidiary will be the centre of its clinical development efforts in the Asia-Oceania region.

It will work closely with Takeda Pharmaceutical, Takeda Global Research & Development and Takeda Global Research & Development Centre (Europe).

The firm said one of its key strategic priorities is to develop an appropriate structure for its clinical development operations across the world.

It added it hopes to improve its performance in subject enrolling on a global scale in order to speed up the application, approval and launch of its products in all territories, including Europe.

Yasuchika Hasegawa, president of the company, said: “The establishment of TCRS will enable us to have the global research and development network of the Takeda group, covering Japan, the US Europe and Asia.”

He added the effective use of the clinical data collated through this new subsidiary would contribute to the improvement of its overall product pipeline.

Earlier this month, Takeda Pharmaceutical announced the appointment of Dr Erich Brunn as chief executive officer of Takeda Pharmaceuticals Europe, its wholly-owned company that controls the oversight of its sales and marketing efforts across the continent.
