Sara Lee publishes annual report

Sara Lee has published its annual report for the 12 months ended June 28th 2008.

The company reported net sales of $13.2 billion (7.3 billion pounds) for the period, a year-on-year rise of 10.3 per cent.

During the last financial year, the firm saw a net loss of 79 million dollars, compared to a net profit of 504 million dollars in 2007.

Brenda C Barnes, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: “I can say that i have never been more proud, excited and optimistic about Sara Lee – about where we are today and the direction we are heading.”

She added the company’s perseverance during the last financial year led to a solid improvement in underlying operating results and the building of stronger brands.

Sara Lee Household & Body Care UK is a subsidiary of Sara Lee whose brands include Sanex, Radox and Brylcreem.
